Thursday, May 26, 2011 Isakson Receives Award from American Conservative Union for 2010 Voting Record WASHINGTON – WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., this week was named a winner of the “American Conservative Union Ratings Award” for 2010 for his commitment to conservative principles on a wide variety of issues. “I’m happy to receive this award from the American Conservative Union and proud to stand by Georgians in fighting for our conservative values,” said Isakson. “As our nation’s debt skyrockets past $14.3 trillion, my top priority in the Senate is to fight for fiscal conservatism in order to rein in federal spending and reduce our enormous debt.” Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union is a grassroots membership organization that seeks to represent the views of Americans concerned with economic growth through lower taxes and reduced government spending, as well as the issues of liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values and national security. Members of Congress must receive a score of 80 percent or more in the organization’s annual rating guide to qualify for the designation. Isakson scored a 91 for his voting record in 2010. “This award is a reflection of Senator Isakson’s consistent support of conservative principles on a wide range of issues of concern to grassroots conservatives in 2010,” said American Conservative Union Chairman Al Cardenas. “At a challenging time when the fundamental principles on which the American system of government are being challenged, Senator Isakson stands with those who are trying to preserve those principles.” ### |
