Isakson Praises Passage of Resolution Honoring Historically Black Colleges

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today praised the Senate's passage of a resolution to designate the week beginning Sept. 12, 2010, as "National Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week." Isakson is an original co-sponsor of the resolution.

"A quality education is important to our young people and critical to the future of our country," Isakson said. "Georgia is home to some of the most respected and admired historically black colleges and universities in the nation and I'm proud to support this resolution recognizing these fine institutions."

Georgia is home to 10 historically black colleges and universities. There are 105 historically black colleges and universities in the United States.
