Isakson Receives Conservative Rating from American Conservative Union

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today was recognized as an ACU Conservative by the American Conservative Union’s annual Ratings of Congress.

“I’m very proud to receive this honor from the American Conservative Union, because I believe my votes reflect the values and interests of Georgia's families and small businesses , ” Isakson said.

The American Conservative Union was founded in 1964 to promote the principles of liberty and the strength of the Constitution. The organization tracks a wide range of issues before Congress, including votes on taxes, wasteful government spending, cultural issues, defense and foreign policy.

In order to qualify for the ACU Conservative designation, a member of Congress must obtain a score of 80 percent or more in the organization’s annual rating guide. Isakson scored a 96 percent for 2009.

“This award is a reflection of Senator Johnny Isakson’s consistent support of conservative principles on a wide range of issues of concern to grassroots conservatives in 2009. At a challenging time when the fundamental principles on which the American system of government are being challenged, Senator Johnny Isakson stands with those who are trying to preserve those principles.” said David A. Keene, Chairman of the American Conservative Union.
