Isakson, Chambliss Announce Funding f or Yahoola Creek Trail in Lumpkin County

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) today announced that the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners will receive a $104,000 grant for the Yahoola Creek Trail.

The funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund will be used to develop picnic areas, trails and support facilities.

“I am pleased to announce this grant for the Yahoola Creek Trail,” said Isakson. “Preserving and protecting our state’s natural surroundings while providing recreational opportunities for the local community is a win-win situation.”

“I am pleased to announce these important funds that will go so far to improve Georgia’s public park areas and promote preservation,” said Chambliss.  “I am honored to assist Yahoola Creek Trail representatives in their efforts to make our communities better places to live.”

Land and Water Conservation Fund state-side grants help state and local governments acquire, develop, improve and maintain high quality outdoor recreation areas and open space, assuring that the recreation opportunities provided will be available for all Americans to enjoy.
