FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Chambliss, Isakson Join President Bush at White House WASHINGTON—U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., and Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today joined President George W. Bush for a special ceremony at the White House in honor of three University of Georgia (UGA) athletics championship teams. Members of the UGA Women's Swimming and Diving, Women's Gymnastics and Men's Golf teams along with their coaches joined other NCAA Championship teams from universities across the United States on the White House South Lawn for the annual Championship Day hosted by President Bush. Chambliss and Isakson worked with the White House to be sure Georgia’s NCAA champion teams were able to attend today’s ceremony. “As a UGA graduate and a sports enthusiast, I was honored to introduce President Bush to Georgia’s championship teams,” said Chambliss. “We are all very proud of these outstanding athletes and look forward to seeing each team member continue to succeed in their future challenges.” “I was thrilled to attend today’s White House ceremony honoring these remarkable athletes from UGA,” Isakson said. “These students are wonderful representatives of a first class institution, and the University of Georgia family is extremely proud of their outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.” During his speech, President Bush recognized the teams and praised their consistency and outstanding performance throughout each team’s respective season.
